Today’s 333 Devotional: “Don’t Give Up”
Don’t give up, because you’ll reap a reward in the end.
King David said to Solomon, “Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 22:14)
It would seem that there was a lot of trouble and opposition in David’s getting everything ready and in place for Solomon to build the Lord’s temple, but David didn’t allow the trouble to depress him, nor did he allow it to make him give up and quit.
The message: Don’t allow the trouble you face in life and in God’s ministry turn you sour and make you give up. Consider the words David gave to Solomon when such times would come his way.
“Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God–my God–will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 28:20)
Accept God’s part and plan for your life and you will reap the benefits. What benefits? Look at the words David used.
“All this the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.” (1 Chronicles 28:19)
Besides the great riches, the gold and silver, God wrote His plan upon David’s heart. God’s reward to David was personal revelation directly from heaven.
As we move forward in what the Lord has called for us to do, He will begin to write the plans for His temple that lies within our and upon our hearts. Will there be trouble? Yes. But don’t quit. Instead, be strong and courageous knowing that God will never leave nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
In the end, you’ll reap a great reward, not only now, but also in heaven for all eternity.
“For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep.” (Acts 13:36)
