Thought For Today: “Death with No Regret”
It’s a great thing to die full. This is the assessment of the Bible’s account of Abraham’s death. In Genesis 25:8 it says that Abraham died at a good old age and full of years.
Now the words, “of years” are not in the Hebrew manuscript; therefore, while Abraham died of old age, He also died full.
Abraham was a friend of God (James 2:23) and lived by faith (Hebrews 11:8-10), which was “accounted to him for righteousness” (Romans 4:22). It was because of this that Abraham was full when he died.
What humanity counts as gain is what they are emptied of at death, that is, wealth, possessions, and prestige. But those who live by faith in Jesus Christ carry their fullness with them.
To Martha who was grieving the death of her brother Lazarus Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
