Thought For Today: “Commitment: Bowing Only To God”
Commitment is trust and confidence in God regardless of circumstances or outcome.
Commitment means not bowing to anything or anyone except God. It’s a daily decision to prioritize God above all else.
We see such a strong commitment to God from three Jewish young men who were in captivity in Babylon, and at the risk of losing their lives, they remained faithful to God.
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.’” (Daniel 3:16-18)
Because of their dedication to God by refusing to bow their knees, which means not compromising their beliefs to save their lives or, in most of our cases, to make our lives easier, God delivered them. Through this, He revealed Himself as greater than any problems or circumstances they or we may face.
