Thought for Today: “Call to Faithfulness”
Unfortunately, we live in a day and age where faithfulness, while lauded, is summarily dismissed as old fashioned. While we want to be faithful to God, we don’t necessarily want to be faithful to His word and what it calls for us to do and be.
By saying that God’s word is faithful, what we are saying is that we can trust God at His word. We’re told that all of God’s commands and promises are trustworthy, and that we can base the entirety of our lives upon them (Psalm 119:86-90).
God’s word is faithful and therefore it is something we can place our full trust in.
But God needs to see it lived out in our lives. Our problem is that while we speak a good game, the reality is that when the time comes, we fall short of the faithfulness God desires.
God is tired of our promises, and He is saying it’s high time we start living out what His word says (Isaiah 29:13).
The Bible asks us all this very important question concerning our faithfulness. “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8).
