Building a Faith Foundation
As we look at the Christmas story there are several people whose life principles can help us walk out our faith in this world.
Consider Mary. From her example we see a life principle of building our lives upon the foundation of faith.
The angel Gabriel said to her.
“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:30-33)
Mary replied that for her to be pregnant was impossible because she was still, and planned to still remain, a virgin until marriage.
However Gabriel said,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)
And then Gabriel said, “With God nothing will be impossible.” (Luke 1:37)
Instead of arguing or denying the possibility that such a thing could happen, Mary built her life on faith in God and replied,
“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
It was upon of her faith in God that He was then able to use this young woman to bring forth a great miracle.
In a world going to hell, and with everything we have to face in life, we need to build our faith upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. And when we do, God will be able to use us to do great things for His kingdom.
Let this be your prayer today, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
