Today’s 333 Devotional: “Beginnings”

Let begin this New Year with God.

The Bible says, “In the beginning God … (and then) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (Genesis 1:1a; John 1:1)

It all begins with God, which for believers it begins with the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations … teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Therefore, if it all begins with Jesus Christ, and Jesus said to observe all things that He commanded, then what are the first things Jesus taught us so that we can be aligned with Him.

Getting Our Priorities Aligned

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Getting Our Attitudes Aligned

“First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7:5)

Getting Our Relationships Aligned

“Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24)

Getting Our Hearts Aligned

“A lawyer asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, ‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?’ Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.’” (Matthew 22:35-38)

Getting Ourselves Aligned with God

“How can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.” (Matthew 12:29)

“First cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.” (Matthew 23:26)

So, let’s get aligned with God and start off right.
