A Christmas Thought: “A Worship Lesson”

The journey of the Wise Men to find Jesus, the King of Kings, was entirely an act of worship. It wasn’t for their own recognition or favor, but to reveal the coming Messiah, Jesus.

As an act of worship, they brought valuable gifts—gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

But their worship went beyond just these gifts because worship always demands sacrifice.

You see, before these Wise Men could present their gifts, they had to give of themselves. They had to undertake a long and dangerous journey, sacrificing their comfort and safety to find and worship the Messiah.

This is, therefore, a lesson for us in worship. Worship is much more than singing songs; it is a way of life. It isn’t about making ourselves known to others, but about making Jesus Christ known to others through the sacrifice of our lives.

The Apostle Paul said, “I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)
