Thought for Today: “A True Friend Is Interested in Your Best”

“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4)

Jonathan had David’s best interests at heart.

“So Jonathan said to David, ‘Whatever you yourself desire, I will do it for you.’” (1 Samuel 20:4)

And with this, Jonathan and David worked out a plan to let David know for sure whether Saul was out to kill him.

Jesus likewise did what was in our best interest.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
