Thought For Today: “A People of Valor”
Whenever we think of being mighty men or women of valor we think of those who go to war and fight battles. Valor is a military term and we see it used this way throughout the Old Testament.
This is why the Lord’s use of this word applying to the Levitical priesthood is extremely important (1 Chronicles 9:13). These were the priests who returned from captivity to restore the worship of the Lord.
It says they were “very able men.” This is the same expression for “mighty men of valor.”
To be people of valor we need to take our fight to the enemy. The Bible says that we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).
Further, as believers in Jesus Christ we are a holy and royal priesthood, offering up to God those spiritual sacrifices declaring the praises of God (1 Peter 2:5, 9).
To be people of valor God needs us to be courageous in our righteousness and the way we live our lives.
