Thought For Today: “A Maxwell House Christian”
Maxwell House coffee was developed in the late 1800’s and first served in the Maxwell House, a fancy Nashville hotel in 1902.
The slogan, “Good to the last drop,” is said to have originated from President Teddy Roosevelt back in 1921 when asked if he wanted a second cup of the coffee and he said, “Will I have another? Delighted! It’s good to the last drop.”
This got me thinking, are we that type of Christian? Are we Maxwell House Christians? I don’t mean do we like to drink Maxwell House coffee. Rather, are we good to the last drop?
David was a Maxwell House coffee person. He was good to the last drop.
Of David it was recorded, “When David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep.” (Acts 13:36)
The Apostle Paul was a Maxwell House Coffee person. He said that he was being poured out as a drink offering, and that the time of his departure was at hand (2 Timothy 4:6).
Therefore, let’s be Maxwell House Christians and be good to the last drop!
