A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Love Beyond Words”
“How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” (Psalm 84:1-2)
Prayer:
Lord, this cry from David’s heart is a love that is beyond words, a yearning where our hearts and flesh cry out for Your presence. And what David found out, which we also see is that this is about coming to meet with You at Your house. I love what Jacob said about the place where He saw heaven open and a ladder descending from heaven to earth, and with God speaking His promises to him. He said, “Surely the Lord is in this place … How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” And while Your temple is located within us, You also dwell within Your church, because where two or more are gathered in Your name, You are there. And so, we cry out to You, along with the rest of Your people in praise and worship in Your house. AMEN
