A Journey Towards Transformation

Today’s Devotional: “A Journey Towards Transformation”

Considering this topic of transformation, I thought about the road the Apostle Paul was on that led to his transformation (Acts 9).

The road Saul of Tarsus, also known as the Apostle Paul, traveled is a journey we all must take, because it’s a journey toward transformation.

Although Saul was initially unwilling to change, he would be transformed in ways far greater than he could imagine, and he would no longer challenge the beliefs of Christians but instead have his own beliefs and faith challenged. Therefore, this Damascus Road represents a journey of confrontation, transformation, and challenge.

Instead of Saul being the one to confront, he became the one confronted. The hunter turned into the hunted. The accuser became the accused. Saul believed he had the authority and power, but in that moment, he realized he was powerless when he heard the true voice of authority.

And Paul underwent a transformation. His name changed from Saul of Tarsus to Paul the Apostle. The Jesus he once hated was now the One he worshiped and called Lord. He became part of the very fellowship he had once vowed to destroy. He went from persecutor to the persecuted.

And although he was tested, it was Ananias who was called to trust in Jesus and His words rather than give in to his fears. Ananias was summoned and challenged by God to serve more fully, just as God calls us to do. God is faithful and will equip us with everything we need to fulfill the task He has for us.

Jesus seeks to confront, transform, and challenge us with His truth and presence.
