Thought For Today: “A Hope for The Ages”
“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations.” (Romans 4:18a)
Abraham and Sarah had little hope of having children, but God promised. Therefore, Abraham had faith and believed God’s promise.
Knowing this about Abraham, the Apostle Paul said, “Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed.” (Romans 4:16a)
And then he gave us hope for the ages.
“God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” (Romans 4:17)
To Thomas, Jesus promised a blessing to everyone who would believe in His resurrection, even if they had not witnessed it firsthand.
He said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
This is truly the hope for all time. Will we believe? If we do, by grace we have received its guarantee: an eternity in heaven.
