A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Heavenly Aroma”
“Another angel … was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.” (Revelation 8:3-4)
Prayer:
Lord, in the Temple You commanded to be built on earth, You placed within it an altar of incense which was representative of the people’s prayers to You. And so, when the angel placed upon Your golden altar in heaven the prayers of Your people, the smoke, and hence its aroma rose before You. Therefore, may the prayers of Your people rise before You as that sweet aroma. But even more, may our lives be a sweet aroma to You as well, as we live them out by faith in Your Son, Jesus, and the sacrifice He made on our behalf, making us right with You. AMEN
