Thought For Today: “A Great Statement of Faith”

In most Christian churches and denominations, the first statement that is made is about God’s word, the Bible. It says, “We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.”

Such a statement of faith is found in the most unlikely of places and by one of the most likely of individuals whom the Bible speaks of in negative terms, Balaam (Revelation 2:14).

It is his statement before he went rogue, which is a statement we should all believe and adhere to. He said, “I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more.” (Numbers 22:18)

Balaam understood the truth of God’s word, yet the desire of the heart ruled out in the end. But God intervened, and His will was accomplished.

We should always strive through the Spirit of God to never go outside and beyond the boundaries of God’s word and will. If we do, God might have to use a donkey to straighten us out.
