Thought for Today: “A Friendship To Die For”
Jesus said to His disciples, “I no longer call you servants … Instead, I have called you friends.” (John 15:15)
And then Jesus went on to show them just how much He loved them as His friends by going to the cross and dying for their sins.
In fact, this is what Jesus said a true friend does.
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
While we may not be called upon to literally die, to shake off this mortal coil, for those who are our friends, we are still called to die for them. We are to die to our own self-interest and pride.
The most loving thing we can do is tell our friends of their need to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Are we then willing to die to ourselves so that they can live eternally?
