A Christian’s Life in the World

We live in an age where it is hard to tell a Christian from a non-Christian. The church is also getting more like the world, while the world is getting more like the church. What we are seeing is the church and the world walking hand in hand.

The world and false religions know how to use religious expressions to look fine, good, and of God, while the church is using more of the world’s philosophies in its teachings and operations.

In the New Testament the word for church is ‘ekklesia.’ It comes from two Greek words, ‘ek’ meaning ‘out’, and ‘kaleo’ meaning ‘to call.’ So the church is to be a called out people, a people who have been called out of the world by God.

The Lord said,

“And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.” (Leviticus 20:26)

The Apostle Paul said,

“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? … ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.’” (2 Corinthians 6:14,17)

The world should be able to see a real difference in those who call themselves Christians, and a real difference in our churches, that is, our assemblies where we gather together to worship God.

Like Noah, our walk with the Lord, that is, our faith and how we live our lives, should condemn this world filled with sin.

“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” (Hebrews 11:7)

Be true to God and to His word, and stand firm in your faith in Jesus Christ.
