Thought For Today: “Choose Love Not Fear”

Paul says love never fails, meaning it never falls to the ground and dies. You’ll never find any sign of decay in love. Love also never loses its strength and remains immovable and tireless.

In his first letter to the Corinthian Church, Paul wrote, “Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)

In the Phillips translation of the Bible, the first part of this verse reads, “Love can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the one thing that still stands when all else has fallen.” (1 Corinthians 13:8 Phillips)

If so, we need to act out of love, not fear. Fear chains us, but choosing love changes us. Through the simple act of love, relationships change, becoming both healthy and alive.

The Apostle John said, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18)

Therefore, let’s choose to love, just as Jesus chose to love us. Even at our worst, when we’re unlovable, He chose to love us, even as our sins put Him on the cross to suffer and die for us.

So let’s choose to love and always remember that fear chains us, while love changes us.
