Thought For Today: “How’s Your Thinking?”
We are told to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5), because our thought life determines our destiny.
This is something well known to Solomon. He said, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)
Jesus said that what the heart is full of is what we end up speaking, and hence, doing.
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Luke 6:45)
Unfortunately, because of our sinful nature, our hearts continually condemn us, so we walk around defeated even though we have been forgiven by God’s grace and have been given the victory in Christ.
While our hearts may condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows what truly lies within, which is nothing less than the righteousness of Christ (1 John 3:20).
Therefore, let’s start taking captive those wayward thoughts and begin dwelling on the goodness and graciousness of God, who has called us to a holy calling (2 Timothy 1:9)
