Today’s Devotional: “No God No Peace”
Picture a massive hurricane raging over the ocean. Violent winds whip the water into a frenzy, and giant waves cause havoc everywhere. Ship crews fight desperately to secure their vessels to prevent them from being beached or sunk.
The towns and villages dotting the shoreline are in full-blown panic. People are rushing around, trying to prepare themselves and their homes for the coming onslaught. Many are packing their cars and families and heading inland to escape the coming storm.
This is not what you would call a peaceful, serene scene.
But twenty feet below the surface of the water, it’s a completely different picture. The water is clear and calm, and the fish go about their lives, completely unaware of the turmoil raging above them.
There is a truism that says, “Where there is depth, there is peace.”
There is little peace in many Christians’ lives because their relationship with God lacks depth. They are a mile wide in their opinions and experiences, but only an inch deep in their understanding and knowledge of God and His word.
Peace is at the heart of what everyone wants. Peace in this world, peace in our lives, and peace in our relationships. This peace comes only when you have peace with God and the peace of God in your hearts.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
Do you have God’s peace despite life’s turmoil and tragedies? If not, give your sorrows and pain to God, and He will give you His peace in return. As the adage says, “No God, No Peace – Know God, Know Peace.”
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
