What Pleases God?

Thought For Today: “What Pleases God?”

What is required to please God?

Some people believe it’s through rituals: chanting prayers, praying over specific objects, lighting incense or candles, or similar acts. But that’s not what the Bible says.

Others believe it’s about following rules and regulations. We list what we should do and what we should avoid, and if we complete all the “to do’s” and avoid all the “do not’s,” then God says we’re okay. But that’s not what the Bible says.

Then there are those who believe we please God by following religious rituals. They believe that if we observe certain holy days or attend specific religious events, we’ll be religious enough to hear God say we’re okay. But that’s not what the Bible teaches.

What does the Bible say?

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

The Bible says that God isn’t interested in rituals, rules, regulations, or religion. Instead, God is interested in relationships, and it’s impossible to please God without this one thing: a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Such a relationship comes through faith in the God of the Bible.
