Tuesday’s Thought: “It’s Not About ‘In’ or ‘From’”
We’ve all grown up hearing how God rescued the Israelites from their Egyptian bondage, and as a result, we believe that being delivered from our trials and tribulations is the greatest good or spiritual blessing.
But then there’s another story about three young Jewish men who were thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to compromise their faith. God did not rescue them from the fiery furnace; instead, He delivered them within it. Was this not also the highest form of good or spiritual blessing?
Is it deliverance from or deliverance in?
The answer isn’t in how the deliverance was achieved (from or in), but rather in God’s ultimate purpose for these deliverances, which is to reveal Himself as greater than the problems they faced.
So instead of asking why this is happening, ask, “Lord, what can I learn about You through what I am going through?”
David understood that the main goal was to glorify God. “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” (Psalm 50:15)
