Reignition Required

Today’s Thought: “Reignition Required”

We all need to reignite our lives so we can continue growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Let me give the following example.

A customer wrote a complaint letter to the company he bought a knife from. He said that as he used his new knife, it had become dull, and he expected it to last much longer when he purchased it.

The company replied, “It will. All you have to do is sharpen it.”

No matter how sharp a knife is, if it isn’t re-sharpened, it will become dull. Similarly, no matter when we first gain the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and make Him our Savior and Lord, if we don’t allow the Holy Spirit to reignite our lives, we’ll find ourselves drifting further away from God’s original design, purpose, and plan.

Before His death and resurrection, Jesus said, “It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” (John 16:7)

It was Jesus’s desire for the Holy Spirit to be planted in our lives so that He will lead and guide us into all truth (John 16:13).

And Paul told Timothy, “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” (2 Timothy 1:6)

And so, to move forward with God’s plans and purposes, we need to rekindle our spirits with the Holy Spirit.
