Thought For Today: “Entrance By Blood”

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.” (Hebrews 10:19)

In the Genesis account, we learn that after Cain murdered his brother, Abel, and buried him, the Lord said to Cain, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.” (Genesis 4:10)

This testimony forms the basis of the writer of Hebrews’ discussion about how the blood of Jesus speaks a better word. It states, “Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.” (Hebrews 12:24)

As the mediator of the new covenant, the blood of Christ speaks a better word than the sacrificial blood of bulls and goats required under the old covenant because, while it covered transgressions, the blood of Christ cleanses from all sins.

The blood of Christ speaks a better word because, while the blood of the sacrificial lamb allowed the High Priest to enter the Holiest of Holies within the earthly tabernacle, the blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, grants all access into the Holiest of Holies and God’s presence in heaven.

The blood of Christ proclaims a better word because it offers forgiveness for sins and eternal life.
