Thought For Today: “A People of Valor”
Whenever we think of being mighty men or women of valor, we think of those who go to war and fight battles. Valor is a military term, and we see it used this way throughout the Old Testament.
This is why the Lord’s use of this word in reference to the Levitical priesthood is extremely important (1 Chronicles 9:13). These were the priests who returned from captivity to restore the worship of the Lord.
It says they were “very able men.” This is the same expression as “mighty men of valor.”
To be people of valor, we need to take our fight to the enemy. The Bible says we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).
Further, as believers in Jesus Christ, we are a holy and royal priesthood, offering to God spiritual sacrifices that declare the praises of God (1 Peter 2:5, 9).
To be people of valor, God needs us to be courageous in our righteousness and in the way we live our lives.
