Thought For Today: “God Sent His Son”

OR: “The Fundamental Message of Christmas”

Jesus’ life didn’t begin as a baby in a manger. This child is none other than the Lord God of heaven and earth. He is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega.

The Apostle John says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:1-2, 14a)

Speaking of the coming Messiah, the prophet Isaiah said, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

People who do not see Jesus as Lord miss out on the Christmas gift God desires for them. The core message of Christmas is not about peace on earth or goodwill toward men, but about God sending His Son to take our place and die our death so we can have peace with Him.
