Thought For Today: “Our Highest Pursuit”
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
We got it all backwards. We wake up in the morning, make breakfast, get the kids ready for school and then off to work we go. Or we look at our schedule for the day and plan our day accordingly. Our whole day is centered around our need to do those things that need to be done, and to survive the day.
And while all these various things we do is important, and a noble pursuit, it’s not a Christian’s highest goal. A Christian’s highest pursuit and goal is to know God and to seek His kingdom first and above all else.
This was Jesus’s whole point when He tells us to seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness, and then all these other things will fall into place.
Through the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord says, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
