Thought For Today: “Holy Spirit Encouragement”
If there’s one thing we need more of in this world today is encouragement. Jesus said that Satan is a thief who has come to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus goes on to say that He has come to give us not only eternal life, but abundant life (John 10:10).
One way He has done this is by sending us the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said that He would not leave us as orphans. The one thing common amongst most orphans is the discouragement of not having a family. But as believers in Jesus Christ, we are a part of God’s family, and it’s the Holy Spirit that reinforces that in our lives.
The Apostle Paul tells us that we did not receive the spirit of bondage that leads to fear, but rather the Spirit of adoption where we can cry out to our heavenly Father, Abba, which is the word describing an intimate relationship. It’s like our saying “Daddy” (Romans 8:15).
Paul goes on to say that it’s the Holy Spirit within us that bears this out. “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:16)
