Today’s 333 Devotional: “Who Will We Serve?”
For those who place their trust in the Lord, Jesus promised peace for the present and a heavenly dwelling when this life is over.
In John 16:33, Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
And in John 14:1-3 Jesus said of the life to come, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
But Jesus also gives us this word of warning. “Cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:30)
Let this story give all who read pause.
An old farmer died and willed everything he owned to the devil. The town agreed to honor his wish by doing nothing with his possessions. Years later, the house was broken down, the tractor was rusted through, and the field was covered with weeds.
If someone wants to give their life to the devil, all they need to do is little or nothing with Jesus.
But when we by faith give our lives to Jesus and serve Him, then this is what we will hear at the end.
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord … Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink…” (Matthew 25:23, 34)
