Thought For Today: “Speak God’s Word”
God has called us to open our mouths and speak His word, and His promise is that He will do the rest.
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)
It’s not about our ability to translate God’s word for other people’s lives, that’s the job and the responsibility of the Holy Spirit.
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16:13)
The responsibility God has given to us, however, is to go and make disciples sharing with them the words of Jesus.
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
God has given us two ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking to the church, and one mouth to proclaim it to the world. Therefore, God has given us our marching orders, and that is to preach the good news, and to speak His word to this lost and dying generation.
