Thought for Today: “The Rarity of God’s Word”
When Samuel was a young lad living and working in the Tabernacle, God gives this assessment of the people, “The word of the Lord was rare in those days, there was no widespread revelation.” (1 Samuel 3:1)
There are three reasons why. First, they were in open disobedience to God’s word. Second, the leaders didn’t know nor teach the commandments of God. And third, they listened and heard only what they wanted.
There is one verse that may explain this phenomenon.
“Listen! The Lord is not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. But there is a problem — your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore” (Isaiah 59:1-2).
We desire a revival, but are we willing to do what is necessary to accomplish this?
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
