Thought for Today: “God’s Work Will Survive”
John Wesley said, “God buries His workmen, but carries on His work.” WOW
God has a great work for all of us, and when we are finished, He takes us home to be with Him. But His work doesn’t end with our death; rather it continues through others, because nothing can stop God’s plans and purposes.
Therefore, we need to faithfully fulfill God’s calling, and then when this life is over, He will raise up someone else.
It says of King David that after he served God’s purposes for his generation he died,
“For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers.” (Acts 13:36)
Solomon then followed in his father’s footsteps and built the temple of God in Jerusalem, that which was his father’s heart, and which David spent his remaining years getting ready for Solomon to complete.
God’s promise is that He will help us fulfill His purpose, and once that is done, He’ll take us home to be with Him, and continue His work through another.
