Thought For Today: “What is God Like?”
What is God like? To be exact, God is exactly like Jesus.
When Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus replied, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” (John 14:8-9)
Jesus Christ was born to show us the true nature of God, because we were getting it all wrong.
To those who were religious and considered themselves righteous, Jesus called them hypocrites, but to the remorseful and repentant He was merciful and generous. To the poor in spirit, He was gracious and forgiving, and to the weak He was kind and gentle.
As a sign to the people, Isaiah said that the Messiah would be called, “Immanuel,” which means, “God with us” (Isaiah 7:14; cf. Matthew 1:23).
The Apostle John declare that Jesus was indeed God in the flesh when he said, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
Finally, so there could be no mistake, Jesus declares Himself to be God by calling Himself by God’s holy name saying, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58)
And so, what is God like? Look no further than Jesus Christ.
