Thought for Today: “A Joy-Filled Reckoning”

The Apostle Paul gives to us a somber account of that time when we stand before God to give an accounting of what we have done throughout our life.

“So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12)

2 Corinthians 5:10 says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

Therefore, when we contemplate the things that we’ve done that we’re not proud of knowing how we violated God’s perfect law, fear and trepidation sets in.

But what I’ve come to realize is that this won’t be the case.

First, our sins have been forgiven when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, therefore there is no longer any condemnation, which means not only here on earth, but in heaven as well (1 John 1:9, Romans 8:1).

Next, there is no more sorrow or tears in heaven. Therefore, I don’t believe I’ll be lamenting the bad I’ve done when it is revealed.

What then? I believe I’ll rejoice, not over the sin, but for God’s amazing grace who saved a wretch like me, and how Jesus took my place and died my death so I can live with Him forever.

Just a thought!
