Thought For Today: “Forgiveness Brings Peace”
“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.” (Psalm 32:1-2)
While King David knew the peace forgiveness brings, he also knew the other side as well, and that is when he kept his sin to himself and didn’t confess it, there was no peace.
“When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer.” (Psalm 32:3-4)
What David reveals is that un-confessed sin has a direct corollary to our physical condition. It places upon us tremendous stress, and it feels like out life is draining away.
So, when we come to that place where we recognize our sinful condition and confess it by faith and placing our complete trust in Him, then we’ll have peace knowing that our sins have been forgiven.
