Thought for Today: “A Vacation Faith”

With summer vacations in full swing, here is a thought to remember.

As we begin to plan our vacations, and as the time approaches, we fall into that vacation attitude. We get into a good mood, and no matter what happens, we’re not going to let it spoil our planned getaway.

It’s like we can handle life’s situations and circumstances a little bit better.

But what we also need to have is a vacation like faith, that is, a faith that looks forward to what lies ahead no matter what we’re going through. We need a faith that will sustain us through the hard times. We need a living hope, and this only happens when faith is in Christ, not in circumstances.

In the hymn, “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less,” it says,

“My hope is built on nothing less – than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame – but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.”
