Unity Needed

Thought For Today: Unity Needed

“Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?”

These were Rodney King’s words as he was beaten by police officers sparking the 1992 Los Angeles riots. As believers these words should resonate with us, because this was Jesus’ prayer for us.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:20-21)

Truth is, we can do more together than we can do separately. Further, such unity will convince an unbelieving world that Jesus was sent by the Father to be both Savior and Lord.

King David said, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)

Differences will exist. That’s a given. But outside the fundamentals of our faith we need to put our differences aside and come together to make a difference in our communities and in the world for Christ.
