An Endless War
It was on this day, 9/11, that America’s war on terror began, and it’s a war that will always continue because terror exists around the world with no clear lines or boundaries.
Terror, however, isn’t a physical war, but a spiritual one, and Satan is its architect.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” (John 10:10a NKJV)
Every believer in Jesus Christ will experience Satan’s constant attacks as the power of hell itself is aligned against them.
The Apostle Paul said, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV)
Further, in this war on terror there is no intermission. Any retreat on the part of Satan is merely a gathering of reinforcements to renew the onslaught.
After Jesus defeated Satan in the wilderness the Bible says that Satan withdrew for a more opportune time, Luke 4:13.
This was brought out in the life of David as we are told that Saul came after him day and night, 1 Samuel 23:14.
Because of this David was discouraged and depressed saying, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul.” (1 Samuel 27:1 NKJV)
What David forgot, however, and what we must remember are the great and precious promises of God and not give up. We must put on the whole armor of God so that we can stand when the attacks come. And then we must wait and trust in the Lord.
God’s promise says, “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)
Jesus ended his thought on Satan’s thievery saying, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b NKJV)
