A Scripture and a Prayer: “The Right Sorrow”

“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Prayer:

Lord, may we always be ready and willing to be corrected and to quickly turn from our sin and follow along the path of forgiveness and repentance. Therefore, we pray for the gift of godly sorrow, and that You would stir up our hearts to with a genuine sorrow over our transgressions and how deeply they grieve Your heart. Help us to turn away from our sins and to forsake our old ways and embrace the new life we have in Jesus Christ. Fill us with Your Spirit and give us the strength to desire You more than this world as we journey upon Your path of holiness and righteousness. And this we ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN
