The Peace God Gives

Monday’s 333 Devotional: “The Peace God Gives”

Peace With God

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

The peace of the world is the cessation of war, that is, an end of hostilities. It’s calling for peace pacts, and peace treaties. But as we have seen, this sort of peace is short lived.

No place is safe from conflict, and it’s tragic to see people moving to different places and cities only to find the same problems and conflicts. You see they’re looking for peace in all the wrong places.

There’s no real peace outside a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

Peace Of God

There are some things that we’ll never understand on this side of heaven. The Apostle Paul says, “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)

We’re not going to know the why’s, and there’s going to be things happen that are going to bring pain, grief, and sorrow. But through it all God’s peace will keep us, and that’s because the peace of God knows that God is in control and will give us the peace we need.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Notice this peace surpasses all understanding, that is, it transcends all human wisdom and knowledge. Our intellect is limited and will never fully comprehend the infinite peace of God. And while it goes beyond our human capability, it will change our lives forever.
