Today’s Devotional: “The Incredible Love of God”

The Apostle John writes about God’s unbelievable and incredible love for us when He calls those who have come to believe in His Son, Jesus, His children. Through belief in Jesus, God adopts us into His family.

Look at what John said. “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1)

But what does John mean by “manner of love”?

Kenneth Wuest, in his word study, says that it’s a love that is out of this world; that is, this love is otherworldly. There is nothing in this world that we could compare to God’s wondrous love.

While we were still sinners and God’s enemies, the Lord, in His wonderful and incredible love, sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us so He could adopt us into His family (Romans 5:8). This is beyond our comprehension. Who does that? Only God!

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that nothing else compares to God’s love for us, and nothing can separate us from this love.

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

And here is the wonderful and incredible thing about this love: we are beneficiaries and heirs of God through our belief in Jesus as our Savior and Lord.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)

In His marvelous, wonderful, unbelievable, and incredible love, God has brought us into His family, where we are now His sons and daughters. How great His love is toward us!
