A Scripture and a Prayer: “The Cross Life”

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)

Prayer:

Lord, I know this life following You won’t be easy. You said, that in this life of faith we need to pick up our cross, like You picked up Yours, and follow. To pick up the cross is to die to self, to die to our wants and desires, and to be willing to die for You. Therefore, to pick up our cross is to live the cross life, which isn’t a life of inconvenience, like many say, “It’s my cross to bear,” but it is a life of submission. Therefore, the cross life isn’t about following a religion, but rather it’s all about following You to the cross and beyond. Jesus, please give us the strength and courage to follow You, and no longer anyone or anything else. AMEN
