Today’s 333 Devotional: “The Best Inheritance”

Did you know that as believers in Jesus Christ that we have the best inheritance of them all?

In speaking to the Levites, they weren’t to have any physical inheritance in the Promised Land, but rather the Lord and their ministry to Him was their inheritance.

“But to the tribe of Levi, Moses had given no inheritance; the Lord, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he promised them.” (Joshua 13:33)

The Lord God, and Him alone was the entire inheritance of the tribe of Levi. While the other tribes were given land and cities, the Lord and the ministry at the tabernacle was the Levites only inheritance.

They got the best God could give.

How does this apply to us?

The Levites were the priests who ministered for the people to the Lord. When we became followers of Jesus Christ, when we became His disciples, we as the church, became a kingdom of priests.

“You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ … But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:5, 9)

We have as our inheritance the Promised Land of heaven promised by God when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.

The Apostle Paul said, “Having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:7)

But we also have an inheritance on earth, and inheritance of ministry to God who called us out of the darkness to share His marvelous light, which is an inheritance of the Lord God Himself.

And so, like the Levites, we have the best inheritance of them all.

So go out and let others know the inheritance that awaits them through faith in Jesus Christ.
