Thought for Today: “Satan’s Strategy”
Satan’s attacks against us are not random but are well thought out. Some of these attacks are straight up in our face, like the attacks against Job, and Jesus. But at other times he attacks through deception like when he tempted Eve, or when he comes as an angel of light and his demons as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)
Jesus calls Satan a thief and puts forth his plan. He said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (John 10:10a). Maybe I can put it like this, Satan comes to steal our peace, kill our future, and destroy our hope. I think that sums it up pretty good.
How do we defeat Satan’s strategies? It’s to keep our focus squarely on Jesus who counters these strategies. In the second part of John 10:10 Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” We are also told that whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life (John 3:16). Jesus also tells us to come to Him with what we’re going through, and He will give us peace (Matthew 11:28-30.) And the writer of Hebrews tells us to keep our focus squarely on Jesus who is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
But what we always must keep in mind is that in the end, Satan loses, and we win as we’re ushered into God’s heavenly kingdom where there’s no more suffering, pain, crying, or tears, only eternal peace and joy.
