Today’s 333 Devotional: “Restored and Repurposed”
“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)
My thought was that asking God to help number our days is not a game; rather it’s a sure bet. Therefore, we need to ask the Lord for the wisdom to restore and repurpose our lives.
“Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may return; renew our days as of old.” (Lamentations 5:21)
God takes broken people and puts them back together according to His original design. He realigns us to our original setting. You might say that God is in the human restoration business.
To restore means to bring back to the original condition: like when a classic car is restored. I remember restoring a classic 1929 Ford Roadster with a rumble seat. When it was finished it had all the original parts, including the tool kit. We also painted the chassis to look the same as when it came off the assembly line, drip marks and all.
I also remember having my wrists mended. I broke them playing basketball, so the doctor reset the bone back to its original state or condition.
God takes all those who have been broken due to sin, or through just living life in this sin-filled world and brings us back into that right relationship with Him. God does this through His Son, Jesus Christ, and through what He did for us upon the cross, dying the death we all deserve.
God wants to restore what has been lost. The Lord said, “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.” (Jeremiah 30:17)
Are you broken and in need of repair? God wants to restore you. To be restored ask God to forgive you and repent, that is, turn from the way you were going and back to Him, and He will restore and repurpose you, that is, He will give you back purpose and direction for your life.
