You Are More Than What You Think
Far too often we judge ourselves by what we see in the mirror, or how others see and respond to us. We see ourselves as overweight, plain, unlovely, and no promise that things will be any different in the future.
But our value isn’t based on what we see, or for that matter the actions and judgments others make about us. Our value is based solely upon the fact God created us in His image and likeness.
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;’ … So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27 NKJV)
You were made in the image and likeness of God, therefore you are of great value and worth.
• Because you were created in God’s image and likeness you have great dignity, significance, and importance.
• Because you were made in God’s image and likeness you have within you the ability to think and choose the same as God.
• Because you were made in God’s image and likeness you’re a spiritual, moral, and relational being with the capacity to have a personal and intimate relationship with God.
The word “image” means a copy or counterpart, which indicates you’re a direct reflection of God’s glory.
You’re far more than what you think. You’re God’s special creation put here not to glorify or live for yourself, rather you’re here to have a relationship with God and glorify Him.
God created us in His image and likeness because He loves us. He loves us so much He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us so that we can live with Him for all eternity.
“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV)
