No More Excuses

The Apostle Paul says that God has made it perfectly clear through personal revelation and creation that He exists, and that humanity has no real excuse not to believe.

“Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:19-20)

God has taken the initiative and has made it clear.

The first way is through the human conscious and human reasoning. Humanity knows deep within itself that there is a God, that He exists, and that He is real. God has made Himself known, but humanity is so stuck on itself and its own superiority that it will not acknowledge what it knows deep down to be true.

The second way is through creation. God who is invisible has made himself known through what we can see in creation. King David said, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” (Psalm 19:1)

In his sermon the Apostle Paul said, “The One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth.” (Acts 17:23-24)

When humanity looks at nature; not only do they see the Creator, but also even more, they see the invisible attributes of God. The main attributes are His eternal power and Godhead. Humanity also sees in creation energy and power beyond the natural order. They see intelligence and knowledge, purpose and meaning, design and order, beauty, glory, value, and worth, all of which are wrapped up in God.

And so, in the end, through what God has revealed outside His word concerning the reality of Himself, humanity has no more excuses, no more defense, and no longer any reason to reject God.
