Loyal To The Cause

“All these men of war, who could keep ranks, came to Hebron with a loyal heart, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were of one mind to make David king” (1 Chronicles 12:38).

All these men who gathered were men of war, able to form and keep a steady and firm battle line. Today we’d say they drew a line in the sand and wouldn’t budge from it. Further, they had one purpose in mind, and that was to make David king over Israel.

Having a loyal heart meant they came with a singular heart, and unified in their purpose. In other words, they had no other interest; they had no hidden agenda, no alterative motive other than to make David king.

This reminds me of whom we as Christians are suppose to be. We are to be mighty men and women of valor, and we are to come together unified for the singular purpose of making Jesus Christ our King and our Lord.

But we need to keep strong. We need to draw a line in the sand that says we’re not going to budge or be moved from this goal, nor moved from the truth of God’s word. We are to be unified in this endeavor, not being swayed by outside interests, nor coming together with some hidden agenda or alterative motives. Our only goal is to see Jesus Christ glorified and lifted up in this world.

Can you imagine what the church of Jesus Christ would look like, along with the impact and influence we would have if we came together like this making Jesus Christ the Lord over our lives and over the church. We’d be a force to be reckoned with. Satan and his cohorts would truly tremble with fear.

So, let’s start being perfect in our hearts, loyal to the cause of Christ, and unified in our purpose to make Jesus Christ Lord of all.
