Let’s Stop Fooling Ourselves
Since humanity’s greatest need is seeking after and finding God, why are people so foolish saying that there is no God?
When people are honest with themselves, deep within their soul they have a sense of God, that’s because God has placed the reality of eternity within them (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
But still humanity tries to explain this away. Most of the time it’s because they want to live life according to their own set of rules.
But the one thing they can’t fight is their conscience that tells them when something is wrong or isn’t true, or that there is a God and they’re living immoral lives. And so they say there is no God, thus searing over their conscience as with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:2).
Others take the track that since we’ve increased in knowledge, God is then irrelevant, and only those who are uninformed and unenlightened believe. Yet, throughout history people of great knowledge and science, and upon whose shoulders these educational elitists stand, believed in God.
There is a big difference between knowledge and wisdom. The Bible says that wisdom begins with a deep reverence and fear of God (Proverbs 9:10).
Those who purport science disproves God’s existence simply have no basis or proof. They point to evolution, which is a theory, not a fact, and a theory is nothing more than unsubstantiated opinion. And to prove something scientifically means it has to be reproducible, which they cannot do.
Others look at the all the pain and suffering going on in their lives or in the world and say God doesn’t exist. And while I never want to minimize their pain, yet very few prior to their suffering ever gave God a thought.
The Psalmist said, “The suffering you sent was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your principles.” (Psalm 119:71)
The evidence for God’s existence is overwhelming, but humanity wants to live by it’s own rules and therefore says there is no God.
