God’s Word Becoming Flesh
December 23, 2024

Today’s 333 Devotional: “God’s Word Becoming Flesh”

Christmas is a time when we celebrate the most wonderful news humanity could ever receive, and that is, the Lord God, the second person of the Godhead, the Word of God, Jesus Christ, came to this earth as one of us, to die for us so we can have eternal life.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1-2, 14)

The Lord God became flesh and dwelt among us as one of us so that He could become that perfect sinless sacrifice for sins.

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

What a glorious day this is as we see and experience the only begotten of the Father, Jesus Christ, who truly is full of grace and truth.

But Christmas isn’t about celebrating what happened over 2,000 years ago, but to make what happened over 2,000 years ago, personal. It is putting flesh upon God’s word in our lives.

What does it mean to put flesh on God’s word and experience His presence? It means to take the word of God, the Bible, and obey what it says.

In the Great Commission Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations … teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

To observe means we obey what Jesus said. And Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23)

This Christmas let God’s Word become flesh and alive in you.
